Keep Currie Road clean

A Currie Road resident feels something needs to be done to stop people putting out their garbage days too early.

EDITOR – I am writing this letter in the hope that I will win over some people to my cause of keeping the Currie Road/Steve Biko Road intersection area free from garbage and litter.

This area is usually strewn with litter. The main reason is that certain residents put their garbage bags out on the pavement days too early.

There are a lot of hungry people around who tear open the bags looking for food.

The result is the same as if the residents emptied their black bags of garbage along the pavement.

In some cases it might be the hired cleaners who are doing it but ultimately it is the employers’ responsibility to stop bad practice.

Can you believe it that some people are prepared to live like this!

I have reported the “illegal dumping” to the Health and Environment Department.

If you have any suggestions of what we can do about combatting the problems, please email me at dot.oleary@telkomsa.net
