No one stopped to help

A parent is shocked that no one helped her daughter who was attacked in Umbilo.

EDITOR – I live on Z.K . Matthews Road (Nicholson). On Saturday 23 May, my 19-year-old daughter was on her way to the Assumption Catholic church, when she was attacked and stabbed in her thigh.

I know crime happens everywhere, it’s just more frequent in South Africa. My family and I returned to South Africa 2 years ago after living in London for almost 10 years.

Since our return my son has been mugged once and my daughter mugged and now attacked. It would have been twice but in the previous incident she used a stun gun on the guy before he could mug her. The part that confuses me is a woman had stopped my daughter from using the stun gun in the incident prior to this attack.

The part that disgusts me is that after my daughter was stabbed she sat on the side of the road in shock and bleeding. Nobody stopped to help her. She decided to make her way home. On the way home again nobody stopped or even

asked if she was okay. Even though her top was noticeably ripped and her tights torn with blood gushing out of her thigh.

No one helped! What’s happened to this society? A young girl is sobbing her heart out and bleeding from her thigh and nobody stopped . She is so scared to walk home from university now , knowing that nobody might help if she is in a situation.

Disgusted
