Prospect Road resident fined twice

A resident is questioning why Metro Police have started fining her for parking outside her property in Prospect Road.

EDITOR – I have just read the article about parking on the pavement in Prospect Road.

I am a resident of Prospect Road and I have been living here for the past three years. I have received two R500 fines in less than a week for parking in front of my property. The reason is that we only have one garage and the road is too narrow to park in the road, and there are buses and taxis that speed in the road which makes it impossible to park in the road. We have asked for speed bumps to be placed but nothing. There is ample walking space for pedestrians to get past but most of the people walk in the road regardless.

I was told by Metro to build another garage to avoid this issue. Wonder if they will subsidise it!

They came like thieves in the night at 10.22pm to fine my stationary car. I have contacted the ward 33 council and the government department but to no avail.

We pay our rates and taxes every month and to be bullied by the cops is beyond me. There are more pressing matters for metro cops to deal with. Like crime.

I appreciate this man for speaking up. Seems no one can assist us in this matter.

I just find it very strange that after living here for three years this only started now.
