EDITOR – Over the years there have been many complaints about the inaccessibility of Berea Police Station, especially for the disabled. There has been talk of relocating to more suitable premises but to date nothing has been done.
In Currie Road, opposite the intersection of St.Thomas Road next to the water reservoir there is an abandoned property which used to be a pathology laboratory. It consists of a number of buildings which can be seen from the road and it has a drive in access. This would be an ideal site for the police station and I am surprised that it has not been considered unless of course the Government/Municipality do not know it exists or who owns it.
Maybe our Councillors can investigate.
