Join a sisterhood over brunch this Women’s Month

August is Women's Month. If you're looking to reach out to other women on a social level, Gals That Brunch may be just the group for you.

VARIOUS clubs exist nowadays, each with their own purpose – whether it be for business networking, sports, books or a hobby, but imagine being part of a club of women who only have one thing in mind – to have a good time!

Gals That Brunch, Durban chapter, is part of an international movement started by a woman named Tiffany. She moved across the country to a new state and wanted to find her own tribe.

One day, she posted an invite on a Facebook group asking for women to join her for brunch. She sat in the restaurant in Colorado thinking, ‘What if nobody comes?’ but 30 women showed up, and that’s how Gals That Brunch was born.

There are chapters in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Africa, South Africa, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore and several other countries.

The Durban chapter is facilitated by Ntwenhle Linda, a business owner who found herself in the same situation as Tiffany after she moved from Cape Town to Durban.

“The first brunch was held in April last year. Currently, we have about 70 women attending our meet-ups on a rotational basis. There are about 20 of us at each event,” she said.

Events vary and happen each month – sometimes it’s just brunch, but there have been weekends away, game drives and more.

“We come together to build relationships, to relax, to forget about the everyday duties and must-dos. Eventually, friendships form, and you get to know more about the women in the group. It’s relaxed and fun – nothing serious. No glam is required. It’s a really beautiful social group with the most amazing women,” she said.

Linda welcomed women who want to join Gals That Brunch and urged them to visit their website where you will find ways to contact them and links to their social media.
