UPDATE: Missing bird found by owners

The owner of an African Grey Parrot who went missing in Glenwood on Saturday, July 27, says the bird has returned home after nearly three days, and he thanks the Glenwood community for spreading helpful information about the missing bird and helping him search for his beloved pet.

COCO, the African Grey Parrot who had his parents’ worried sick has returned home after he went missing from his owner, Parth Joshi’s home on Masizi Kunene Road. Joshi spread the news far and wide after his beloved bird, Coco, went missing on Saturday, July 27, at around 16:00, and the Glenwood community was on high alert as Coco’s picture was shared across social media platforms.

Coco was spotted the day she went missing near Life Entabeni Hospital and again on Monday, July 29. Then, Joshi’s wife, Kushi Parekh, said Coco was spotted at a neighbour’s home on the same day, at around 15:30, before he was brought back home.

“One of our neighbours came screaming for Parth, and he wasn’t home at the time – he was out searching for Coco, and she said Coco was on her fence. So I went there, and we tried to keep Coco occupied until Parth came back because he is the only one she will go to. As soon as he arrived, she flew towards him, and eventually, he was able to coerce her into coming home. We were so happy,” said Parekh.

“Everyone really banded together to help find Coco. I’d like to thank all those who showed support towards us when Coco was missing – we were all very worried – my wife and I and my family. Coco means so much to our family because we got Coco at about three months old, and he’s now 14 years old. I’m glad to have him back, and I’d just like to thank everyone who showed support – people even came with me to do the rounds in Glenwood to search for him. He’s never been lost for so long, and we’re just over the moon and glad that he’s back,” said Joshi.
