Resident appeals for help to track down flyaway bird

The owner of an African Grey Parrot, who has gone missing in Glenwood, is appealing to residents to stay on the lookout for the bird who went missing on Saturday, July 27, at 16:00, from a residence near Life Entabeni Hospital.

GLENWOOD resident Parth Joshi is appealing to the community, especially those who reside near and around Life Entabeni Hospital, to be on the lookout for his African Grey Parrot, Coco, who went missing at 16:00 on Saturday, July 27.

“I stay at a complex in Glenwood, near the Life Entabeni Hospital on Masizi Kunene Road. My African Grey Parrot, Coco, went missing on Saturday, and we have been trying to search for him ever since, and it is now dark, making it more difficult. On the Saturday, a lady at Glen Grove said she saw my bird on her fence, but he flew away towards Entabeni Hospital by the time we reached there. I am worried and will appreciate any assistance to help locate my bird,” said Joshi.

According to the United Parks & Resorts official website, the African Grey is a mottled, grey-coloured, medium-sized parrot. It has a large black bill and white mask enclosing a yellow eye and has a striking red vent and tail.

Joshi has had Coco since the bird was three months old, and the local resident is desperate to locate his beloved bird whom he has cared for about 14 years.

“If you do spot him, please contact me immediately. I don’t advise trying to capture him or approaching him because this may prompt him to fly away. Try your best to snap a picture if you can, but most importantly, please contact me as soon as possible and I will make my way to you,” said Joshi.
