BREAKING: Four killed in police-suspect shoot-out in Sydenham

The upper part of Moses Kotane (Sparks) Road in Sydenham has been closed off after a shoot-out between alleged criminals and police broke out, leaving four of the suspects dead and another in a critical condition.

POLICE and paramedics are on the scene of a shooting incident which occurred between alleged criminals and the SAPS Specialised Unit on Moses Kotane (Sparks) Road near Barns Road in Sydenham where four men have been killed.

“Paramedics can confirm that four people have been declared deceased on the scene by paramedics and a fifth person is being attended to by paramedics. This is an active crime scene, and Sparks Road has been closed off in both directions from just after Randles Road and up until Locksley Drive,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson has advised that all motorists steer clear of the area. “This is an active crime scene, so I’d advise all motorists to avoid this area at all costs as it’s going to be an active crime scene for quite some time.”

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that four people, who were suspects, have been killed. “Four suspects have been shot and fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police on Moses Kotane Road in Sydenham. One suspect was also shot and is critically injured.”
