Local business conference to present new opportunities for entrepreneurs

The eThekwini Municipality gears up to host the 2024 reSURGEnce Durban Conference, a global investment conference which will be held under the theme, 'Moving the needle forward towards economic emancipation'.

A LARGE delegation from the United States of America (USA), including captains of industry, business, investors, financers, decision-makers and high-profile leaders, will attend the 2024 reSURGEnce Durban Conference to explore and maximise investment opportunities in Durban next month.

Interested local businesses are invited to be part of the reSURGEnce Durban Conference, which is taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre from July 17 to July 21. This global investment conference will be held under the theme, ‘Moving the needle forward towards economic emancipation’.

The conference is hosted by eThekwini Municipality in collaboration with partners from the USA. It will present platforms where entrepreneurs can access capital and investment opportunities.

According to a statement released by the municipality, the five-day investment conference will take place in the form of trade shows; empowerment conferences; the transporting of hosted delegation to site visits at local key developments; networking and pitching sessions; youth entrepreneurship, and a music concert aimed at showcasing local talent to the international delegation.

eThekwini Municipality City manager Musa Mbhele said, “This is one of the City’s efforts and plans of action to boost trade and investment in Durban. Businesses are therefore invited to register now and showcase their businesses to an international investment delegation. This could unlock new markets, clientele base and collaborations which could result in massive business growth.”

The exhibitor-registration closing date is June 30. Exhibition registration fees are as follows:

  • Small, medium and micro-enterprises: R500
  • Non-profit organisations: R1 000
  • Non-government organisations: R1 000
  • Tertiary institutions: R2 000
  • Government departments: R5 000
  • Government agencies: R5 000
  • Corporates: R5 000
