uShaka Marine World invites public to mini Estuary Exhibition

The mini Estuary Exhibition, taking place this weekend at Dangerous Creatures Reptile House in the uShaka Village Walk, is free to the public.

IF you’re looking for a fun and educational family activity this weekend, head to Dangerous Creatures on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, where uShaka Marine World will be hosting a mini Estuary Exhibition.

According to a recent statement released by the South African Association of Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR), the event will be held as South Africa celebrates World Water Week. “We will be highlighting estuaries and the important role they play in maintaining our rich biodiversity. Estuaries are formed where a river meets the sea, with freshwater and saltwater mixing,” said SAAMBR.

“South Africa is home to over 290 estuaries along its almost 3 000km coastline. These estuaries are among the most biologically productive ecosystems on the planet. We look forward to sharing information on some of the weird and wonderful animals and plants that thrive in estuaries as well as how we all benefit from healthy estuaries. You will also learn about the human impact on estuaries and one really simple small thing that everyone can do to help these special ecosystems and the ocean,” said SAAMBR in their statement.
