Splash out on yourself for the month of love – find some fun things to do in Durban this coming week.

FEBRUARY, Valentine‘s month, is a great time to put in some self-love and get yourself out in nature and your feet pumping while you soak up the sun before the autumn and winter months set in. Some great shows are on offer, too – why not treat yourself and a loved one to some entertainment?

Take a day tour at Shongweni Farmer’s Market and Paradise Valley

Imvelo Travel and Adventures have organised a tour of the legendary Durban Metro market, the Shongweni Farmer’s Market, and a chance to walk on a trail and picnic in Paradise Valley on Saturday, February 10 from 08:00 to 16:00.

Enjoy a hike in the Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve in Yellowwood Park

On Saturday, February 10, you can get to hike through grassland, bush and across a few streams while you enjoy game and bird viewing. You may get to see zebra, bushbuck, bushbabies, dassies and rock hyrax. It is advised to take tick repellent.

The hike will finish around lunchtime, and there is a R60 entry fee (R30 for kids) which is not included in the price of the hike which is R119 per adult, R79 per child and R279 per person including transport to and from the start.

You can choose to hike a 4km or 10km loop where you will visit the Coedmore Castle, the ruins of the old chapel, gravesites, some old ruins and a dam. The hike is rated Grade 2 for casual hikers and Grade 1 for regular hikers. The 4km will take about 2 hours and the 10km about 3.5 hours.

Meet at 08:00 in the main parking area – follow the road to the left of the entrance gate. Book through Quicket.

Book ahead for Bollywood musical legends returning to Suncoast

For exciting entertainment for the whole family, don’t miss Showtime Promotions’ Tribute to Legends, which showcases the music of Kishore, Lata and Rafi Nite, featuring singers Chetan Rana, Kavya Limaye, Mani Dharamkot and Imran Aslam and music by The Bollywood Showband. They will come to the stage on Saturday, February 24 at the Globe, Suncoast, at 20:00.

Melodious, vibrant and charismatic are just a few words used to describe international singer Chetan Rana. He is sure to take you on a nostalgic journey with his rendition of Kishore Kumar songs.

Hailing from a musical background in Gujarat, India, 20-year-old Kavya Limaye is best known for participating in the popular reality singing show, Indian Idol Season 13. She has undergone professional music training from experienced singers and performers, affording her the opportunity to showcase her talent on the big stage.

After sold-out events, Indian singer and aspiring musician Mani Dharamkot makes a return to South Africa. He participated in Sony’s Superstar Singer 2 in which he set a record by receiving 11 medals from the judges, the most of all the candidates. Many people throughout the world are moved by his songs and his narrative.

Originally from Pakistan, local South African singer Imran Aslam will be entertaining audiences with his rendition of Mohammed Rafi tracks.

Armand Joubert live at Rhumbelow (from February 9 to 11)

Rhumbelow Theatre Durban presents singer Armand Joubert live in his show, I’m Viral! As a contestant on The Voice South Africa, Joubert is known for his energetic performances, high notes and impeccable style. Born and raised in Witbank, Mpumalanga, he started singing at the age of only five years old. He draws his musical inspiration from artists like Queen, Adam Lambert, Prince and Lady Gaga.

Joubert will perform songs such as Purple Rain by Prince, Somebody to Love by Queen and even Ray of Light by Madonna. Armand is also a star in his own right after he went viral on TikTok with his Afrikaans hit, Met Jou Klere Af, which broke records with a solid 2.8 million views after only one month of its release and 3.3 million views on TikTok.

In his show, he takes you on his journey from a little boy in Witbank to a star with his name on everybody’s lips. Armand’s performances are as unique as he is with his over-the-top fashion and 5-octave high-range vocals that will leave you speechless. Armand has been the opening act for artists like Joseph Clarke, Prime Circle, Nicholis Louw, Nadine, Mango Groove and many more. He has also graced the stages of the Barnyard Theatre, Aardklop, Sun Arena, Die Blou Hond, Expresso, Morning Live, H20, Dancing with the Stars and his own sold-out shows at various theatres and venues.
