“Whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilize the man together with EMRS Paramedics, the rescue continued. After approximately an hour later, the patient was cut free from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life,” said Jamieson.

Paramedics worked to stabilise the man inside the vehicle while the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to extricate the man from the wreckage.

“The patient has sustained serious injuries, and together with EMRS Paramedics, ALS Paramedics and Netcare 911, the patient will be transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he requires,” said Jamieson.
