The show must go on – motor expo back on with new venue

Mobile Electronics Competition Association (MECA) hatched a last-minute plan, saying the show would go on.

WHEN the Durban Annual Motor Expo (DAME), set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, July 29, was cancelled, Mobile Electronics Competition Association (MECA) sprang into action.

Speaking to Berea Mail, Poomesh Sukhai, one of the MECA directors, said they had secured an alternate venue at the last minute, together with the KZN Foundation.

She explained that MECA and the Kwazulu-Natal Foundation were the main contact companies for the event which was hosted by DAME.

“We are extremely disappointed to announce that we will no longer be exhibiting at Durban Annual Motor Expo at The Durban ICC,” said Sukhai, who added that DAME took to its Facebook page to make the cancellation announcement.

“We are pleased to announce that we have found a new venue, and we will still ensure our competitors have a fair platform to play on,” said Sukai.

The show will go on at a new venue: 21 Commercial Road, Amanzimtoti CBD.

“We will start the show on Saturday at 10:00. All exhibitors wanting to come through, please join us free of charge,” said Sukhai.

“We put the event together at the new venue to compensate for competitors who came from far and wide, and to assist exhibitors who have bought excess products/goods by providing a free platform for exhibitors,” concluded Sukhai.

Jayshree Parasuramen, event organiser for Durban Annual Motor Expo, as in the DAME brand, encouraged the community to attend the event at the new venue.

“It is going to be a well-attended expo,” she said.
