THE eThekwini Municipality is inviting all interested designers to get their creative juices flowing and send in their applications in order to showcase their collections during this year’s DFF to be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre from September 20 to September 23.
According to a statement released by the municipality, plans to host the 12th Durban Fashion Fair (DFF), themed ‘Shades of Liberation’, are at an advanced stage to ensure a successful showcase.
“The theme loosely refers to [your] struggle through life and the different shades of challenges [you] have overcome,” said the City in their statement.
Designer applications are open until August 7, and all applications must be submitted online at: https://qrco.de/DFFapply

Also underway is a two-month model boot camp where 24 aspiring models are making strides towards becoming professionals in the fashion field and walking the runway. “The boot camp commenced in July at the Tropicana Hotel. The aspiring models are trained by seasoned professionals who are well-versed in all things model etiquette. Posing and posture, nutrition, photographic editorial techniques and runway training are all part of the training programme. The models being trained are the finalists that were scouted from all eThekwini Municipality regions at the beginning of the year. As part of access to markets, the trained models will strut with the designers’ collections at this year’s DFF. This will give them exposure in order to participate in other high-profile fashion shows,” said the City.
