Police trace and arrest three suspects after aggravated robbery

One suspect was arrested while two remained at large – through a follow-up investigation, they were traced and apprehended within 24 hours.

THREE suspects stole a cellphone valued at R4 000 at knifepoint on Russell Street in Durban on Tuesday, June 20 at 21:30.

All three suspects were arrested within 24 hours thanks to swift police work following the incident.

According to Captain Muzi Maphumulo, spokesperson for Durban Central SAPS, police chased down the suspects and made their first arrest shortly after the crime was committed.

“The suspects split in different directions and fled in the direction of the railways. Durban Central Field Unit members, who were in the vicinity, chased the suspects, disarmed them and apprehended one suspect who was positively identified by the complainant. The remaining two suspects fled with the complainant’s property,” said Maphumulo.
