Body-builder brings home gold medal from Italy

Although he started competing in bodybuilding competitions just last year, Yeskiel Naraindath has excelled in the sport and says he hopes to inspire other young men to get involved in bodybuilding.

YESKIEL Naraindath has just returned from Taranto, Italy, and is still reeling from his win after nabbing first place at the International BodyBuilding Fitness Federation (IBFF) Mr and Ms Universe Competition, in the Men’s Fitness Model division – and being named Mr Universe. Naraindath says this win is a dream come true for him.

“On Saturday, May 27, my childhood dreams turned into a reality when I became the Mr Universe Men’s Fitness Model Champion at the IBFF competition in Italy. Growing up, I used to see these fitness icons on television, in fitness magazines like Men’s Health, and on all social media platforms, and I always said I wished that one day I could be there, too. It was such an honour to represent my country, South Africa, and to bring home the gold and the title.”

Although he started competing in bodybuilding competitions just last year, Naraindath has excelled in the sport and says he hopes to inspire other young men to get involved in bodybuilding. “My dream was to one day reach this point in my fitness career and be a role model and inspire the youth and community because of how I was, once upon a time, in my younger days. I want to lead by example and show that you can achieve anything with hard work, discipline, perseverance and consistency.”

As a fitness trainer himself, the Essenwood resident says he has received overwhelming support from his gym, First Fitness. “I would like to thank one of my main sponsors at 1st Fitness Gym for always standing by my side throughout this journey of mine. Training at the best gym in Berea, with its state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, has contributed a lot to the development of my physique. Being an ambassador of First Fitness, I will continue to uphold our brand with the quality and standards we as a gym offer and stand tall and proud as we are number one, and only champions are made out of this gym.”

Naraindath says he wants to continue to excel in bodybuilding and educate people on how to achieve a balanced lifestyle. “I chose to be in this field to make a positive impact on peoples’ health and to assist them in achieving a balanced lifestyle. I believe that a healthy body and mind are equally important to better equip you and help you to cope with the day-to-day issues of life. As a trainer, I bring a positive energy to my training programmes, which impacts on the goals my clients have set, as they are determined to achieve their goals with a ‘get-up-and-go’ attitude,” he concluded.
