Successful golf day supports street child charity

The I Care golf day went off without a hitch in this, it's 18th year as the main fundraiser for the organisation.

IT was a great day on the greens for participants of the I Care Golf Day fundraiser on May 18 at the Royal Durban Golf Club.

This was the 18th golf day hosted by the organisation. It is the main fundraiser for the year for I Care, a non-profit organisation that works to rehabilitate and rehome or reunite streetchildren with their families.

Gail Elson, marketing manager for I Care, said all proceeds support I Care’s running cost.

“The golf day was a great success. We had 60 players, and some said it was their best golf day yet,” she said.

“A highlight was seeing so many people dressed in red, I Care’s colour. We had amazing sponsors – we are so grateful for all the generosity of the companies involved,” she said.

I Care staff: Anne Slatter, Gail Elson and Lucia Shange make sure the day runs smoothly.

Among the range of programmes I Care runs, an outreach team works to build up relationships with streetchildren and encourage them to visit the I Care drop-in centre in Windermere.
