Local songstress launches her new album
Mashezee says that attendees at her album release event can expect great music that infuses both the new and old-school, entertainment, good food on sale and good vibes.
UMBILO resident and songstress Purity ‘Mashezee’ Shezi has launched her third album, titled Ekuqaleni, and will be hosting an album launch party on Friday, May 26 at Alliance Française, located at 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside. Mashezee says that attendees to the event can expect great music that infuses the new and the old-school, entertainment, good food on sale and good vibes.
Tickets for the event are now on sale, with general entry priced at R150.
Mashezee is no stranger to the creative space – she is not only a singer and songwriter, but she is also a radio producer and presenter at Highway Radio. She received acclaim for her single, titled Unothando, and has previously released another album titled In My Favour.

Mashezee says creating music is second nature to her. “Music is an integral part of life. Whatever scenario we go through in life, music is there to comfort us or to help us to celebrate. Music is a documentary of our lives and is a channel for writing our own narrative and documenting our history as it happens for future generations to come. Music is a channel to break barriers and build bonds, and that’s what drives my passion for making music.”
She says she looks forward to her new album debut. “I’m so excited to finally perform this album live. It’s been a long time in the making, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created. I hope that people will develop a deeper love and connection with the music.”
On the day of release, Ekuqaleni will be available on major digital platforms, such as Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer and Youtube Music.
