Be part of St Patrick’s Day feast

Be part of the lunch event to celebrate St Patrick's Day at the Westville Country Club on Saturday, March 18.

THE countdown is well underway to St Patrick’s Day. The day has traditionally been to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland and is commemorated on March 17 each year. St Patrick’s Day unleashes celebrations around the globe.

“To the Irish, St Patrick’s Day in mid-March is much more than a party,” says Ray McNulty, president of the KZN Chapter of the Irish South Africa Association.

McNulty invited people to come and share the day with them and enjoy all the warmth of the traditional Irish.

“It’s the flagship event of our year with a feast of food and entertainment,” he said.

To celebrate this day in KwaZulu-Natal, there will be a fun-filled lunch event at the Westville Country Club on Saturday, March 18.

A representative of the Irish Embassy will deliver the President of Ireland’s St Patrick’s Day message. Local star, songbird Lauren Laing, and the band, Spontaneous Combustion, will have everyone on their feet with Irish favourites and more, plus you’ll savour a tasty, three-course buffet lunch.

The menu features options for each course, such as garlic and gorgonzola mushrooms, Greek-style roast lamb and luscious puds. A vegetarian choice is also available.

“This will add up to a day flowing with goodwill – and value for money into the mix,” said McNulty.

There will also be raffle prizes on the day.

“Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate with us,” he said.
