Durban police officers take on 12.5km fun run

The event started at 08:00 this morning, and scores of police officers and support personnel in KwaZulu-Natal came in their numbers to take part in the Provincial Commissioner's Fun Run/Walk.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, hosted a 12.5km fun run/walk this morning from Blue Lagoon to uShaka Marine World for the South African Police Services (SAPS) police officers and support personnel.

The event started at 08:00 this morning, and scores of police officers and support personnel in KwaZulu-Natal came in their numbers to take part in the Provincial Commissioner’s Fun Run/Walk. Starting from Blue Lagoon on Durban’s North Beach, participants made an about-turn at uShaka Marine World in South Beach and vied for the winner’s medals as they headed back to the finish line at Blue Lagoon.

The day’s activities included the marathon as well as an aerobic session for participants.

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “The marathon and the aerobics session are aimed at keeping the police officers tactically ready and physically, mentally and emotionally healthy to be able to execute policing duties that demand a healthy mind and a healthy body.”
