Suspect arrested for attempted murder in Musgrave

Police traced the suspect to their residence in Yellowwood Park.

A SUSPECT was arrested for attempted murder after shooting at a building on the corner of Vause and John Zikhali (Sydenham) roads on Friday, March 3.

Captain Parboo Naidoo, spokesperson for Berea SAPS, said the shots were fired at about 17:00. He said crime-prevention members arrived on the scene shortly after.

“Members were informed that a male shot at the building and jumped back into his vehicle and fled. Our crime-prevention members, Sergeant Meth and Captain Marx, obtained a description of the assailant and his address in Yellowwood Park,” said Naidoo.

He added that Marx and Meth followed up, arrested the suspect, and seized his firearm.

“The suspect was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging of a firearm in a built-up area,” said Naidoo.

The suspect was detained at Berea SAPS.

“This was good work by our crime-prevention members. Well done,” concluded Naidoo.
