Eight people injured in six-car pile up in Overport

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find total carnage and immediately called for further assistance.

A HORRIFIC crash involving six vehicles and a motorbike has left eight people injured in Overport today, January 25.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics rushed to the scene of the collision on Peter Makoba Road (Ridge Road) and Overport Drive just before 12:00.

“ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage and immediately called for more resources to be dispatched. A total of six light motor vehicles as well as a motorbike had been involved in the collision which stretched on for about 200m,” said Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics.

He added that a total of eight patients had sustained various injuries.

“[Patients] were stabilised on the scene by multiple ambulance services before they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further treatment that they required,” said Jamieson.

The events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
