Matriculants and proud parents celebrate final results

With final results having been released this week, Berea Mail spoke with Durban Girl's High School top achiever about how she made it through her final year of high school.

THE Class of 2022’s matric learners took their futures into their own hands and performed excellently in the National Senior Certificate examinations. Thousands of local school learners received their final results today, and after excitedly sifting through newspapers or looking for their identification numbers online to see how they performed, many matrics from the Class of 2022 can finally rest easy, knowing their hard work has paid off.

Berea Mail visited Durban Girl’s High School in Glenwood this morning to find out how the hard-working matriculants are feeling after receiving their results. The Class of 2022 at the local school achieved a 100% pass rate, and 98% of the learners achieved a Bachelor’s Pass.

Top achiever at Durban Girl’s High School Eleanor Webber achieved a Bachelor’s Pass and six distinctions in the NSC examinations. The star pupil says the most difficult part of the year was finding balance between her personal life and academic life. “The most difficult part was balancing the school work, leadership positions, extracurricular activities and finding time for my friends and family. I knew I had to ensure that I was keeping up with what I expected of myself and that I still found the time to take care of myself mentally.”

Webber says that she was motivated by her high hopes for her future. “The thing that motivated me was the idea of getting to university and securing a promising future for myself. I find that academics are an area of my life that I’ve excelled in, and I always want to try, by all means, to maintain that.”

The matriculant says that she has a strong support system. “My biggest supporters are my mother and my sibling, and my friend group is also very supportive, and we all motivate each other.”

Webber says she was extremely happy with her results, and her family is very proud. “I’m proud of myself because it’s something that I’ve worked towards for a while. I received my results when I was with my mother, and she is so happy for me and really proud. I can’t wait to share the news with my siblings!”
