THE Durban Metro Police Service is calling for South African citizens who are 18 years and over to apply to join the police force. While online applications opened in December, applicants can now drop off their application forms in person at Kings Park Athletic stadium from today, January 16 until Friday, January 20 at 12:00.
In a job advert posted on social media, Metro Police outlined the key responsibilities of the role, which include controlling traffic; issuing traffic offence notices; attending vehicle accident scenes; dealing with criminal offences; attending to complaints from the public; attending court to submit evidence; performing duties at out-of-order robots; initiating the necessary preliminary action in the event of an emergency or disaster.

To be eligible for the post, applicants must have a matric certificate, be fluent in English and one other official language and have a valid driver’s licence or be able to obtain one within nine months. Applicants must be prepared to undergo a background check and have no prior criminal convictions.
Applicants must be South African citizens of at least 18 years old and younger than 35.
