5 benefits of being an early bird

While it may feel like a chore, waking up early soon becomes a habit and a good one to instill in your hectic routine, not only to benefit you physically but also mentally.

AT the start of a new year, people often take up healthy habits in an effort to improve their mental and physical health and their quality of life. It is common to join a gym or adopt a fitness routine or to set aside time in the day to meditate, but another healthy change that could improve your life is to start waking up earlier in the morning. Although there used to be a negative stigma surrounding early mornings, like being dreadfully tired during the day, early mornings are now seen as a respite for many. It is a time of undisturbed peace, serene skies and plenty of time to get recharged for your day.

Here are 5 reasons why you should wake up early in the morning:

When you wake up earlier than your scheduled time, not only can you savour your morning coffee, but you can also do a plethora of activities. If you want to take up a new hobby but don’t have the time, you can wake up early and use the time to try new things.

Once you start waking up early, your body tends to adapt to your sleeping routine. Going to bed early can enhance your energy and mood. This allows you to complete all four to six cycles of sleep so you can feel rejuvenated the next day.

Sleep deprivation or inappropriate sleep cycles can cause fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles and acne. Your skin cells are regenerated while you sleep, fixing the UV damage and increasing the collagen and blood flow. Waking up early also gives you plenty of time to relish your skincare routine.

When you have an early start, you have extra time to get ready and look your best for the day while enjoying the empty roads and no traffic jams. Waking up early will allow you to leave the house earlier for your work, school or college.
