Three suspects in court for attempted car theft

SAPS observed the scene and soon became suspicious that an attempted theft was afoot.

THREE suspects have landed in the dock today, Monday, November 28, for charges of attempted motor vehicle theft. 

According to Durban Central SAPS spokesperson Captain Muzi Maphumulo, the suspects were arrested when SAPS were patrolling on Isaiah Ntshangase Road in Durban.

“The members were patrolling the area when they observed a vehicle that was parked directly behind another vehicle,” said Maphumulo.

He added that SAPS observed the scene and soon became suspicious that an attempted theft was afoot.

“They closed in on the suspects. When searching them, police discovered an Allen key, a remote-jamming device and a hammer. It appeared that the suspects were trying to steal the vehicle, and the suspects’ vehicle was fitted with false registration. The vehicle and all exhibits were seized,” said Maphumulo.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 31, are expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
