SHOPAHOLICS can indulge their ‘quilty’ pleasure as the Tollgate Quilters Guild host their Christmas market at Baden Powell (BP) Scouts Camp in Burman Bush on Saturday, November 26 from 09:00 until 13:00.

Visitors to the market can expect to find a wide range of stalls with all sorts of goodies, including jewellery, Christmas decorations, cakes, preloved books, sweets, Christmas stocking fillers and gifts. There will also be a quilt display. What’s more, there will be three raffles on the day and food and refreshment stalls.

“All funds raised by the Christmas Market will be donated to the KwaZulu-Natal Quilt Festive Fund,” said Tollgate Quilters chairperson Beth Barkus.

Funds are raised by various guilds in support of the South African National Quilt Festival, which will be held at Epworth School in Pietermaritzburg in July 2024, and the local Tollgate Quilters Guild is doing their part to raise funds with their Christmas market.

This quilt, made by Beth Barkus features a more modern, abstract design.

Among the attractions at the national fair are a quilt competition and quilting workshops and demonstrations by local and international quilters.

Set in scenic Burman Bush, the Christmas market this November offers a festive shopping experience away from the hustle and bustle.

As Burman Bush is a nature reserve, visitors are cautioned not to exceed the speed limit of 40km.
