Durban Central SAPS seek missing people

Durban Central SAPS are searching for four men who went missing, two of whom were last seen after leaving home for the City.

POLICE in Durban Central are appealing to the community for assistance in locating four missing persons.

According to SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Zanele Khomo, Xolani Gabriel Madondo (41) was last seen on November 8, at about 08:00, at the YMCA taxi rank. He hails from Umlazi.

“He is a street vendor in Durban. He has a scar on his left eye,” said Khomo.

In a separate case, police are searching for Funokwakhe Simon Zulu (86) who was last seen on November 7, at about 04:30, at The Workshop Shopping Centre in Central Durban.

“He was last seen wearing black pants, a blue denim jacket, and black-and-white takkies. He speaks IsiZulu. He has grey hair and a grey beard,” said Khomo.

In a third missing persons case, Sbongakonke Mthunzi Hlabisa (19) was last seen on October 24, at about 06:00, leaving his home in the Lindelani area.

“He was on his way to attend classes at Durban University of Technology, Steve Biko Campus,” said Khomo.

Police are also searching for Philasande Oscar Mhlongo (44) who was last seen on October 31, at about 10:52, when he left the Umthwalume area to go to a Durban Central car dealership for a car service.

  • Police are appealing for members of the public who can assist police in locating these missing persons to please contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Khanyile, at 072 428 3758 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
