CCTV cameras to help curb crime in Umbilo

Umbilo CPF chairperson Calvin Thomas emphasised the importance of long-term partnerships in the security sector.

IN a bid to curb crime in Umbilo, local security company, Blue Security, recently donated 16 CCTV cameras to the Umbilo SAPS and Umbilo Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Clive Samuels, North Regional Director at Blue Security said the cameras would support the precinct’s community safety and crime-fighting initiatives.

“This is a token of our appreciation to Umbilo SAPS for all they do for the community. It reinforces our commitment to working with the community and strengthening our partnership with SAPS, the CPF and all law enforcement. Protecting the community is at the heart of our business. We want to flatten the crime curve together and contribute towards a safer environment for all who live and work in the Umbilo precinct.”

Commenting on the donation, SAPS Acting Station Commander, Lt Col Richard Ximba said, “The partnership will assist us to improve the client service.”

Umbilo CPF Chairperson Calvin Thomas emphasised the importance of long-term partnerships in the security sector to combat crime and make the area safer.

“We engaged with Blue Security to roll out the camera project, which aims to increase the service levels from the Umbilo SAPS and also serves as a deterrent for any criminal activity in and around the area,” said Thomas.
