Security measures in full swing ahead of King Misuzulu’s arrival

The ceremony is expected to attract 48 000 VIP guests, monarchs and dignitaries, and this is one of the biggest events of the AmaZulu nation.

THE Police Ministry and South African Police Service (SAPS) conducted a safety inspection at Moses Madhida Stadium today, Friday, October 28, ahead of King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini’s arrival tomorrow.

The ceremony to hand over a certificate of recognition to the King is set to take place on Saturday, October 29 amidst some 48 000 dignitaries, monarchs and VIP guests.

Police Minister, General Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, received a safety operational plan today.

Speaking at the event, Cele said there would be a large SAPS presence at the ceremony.

“We have saturated the roads and highways. We have identified highways leading from the north of the province, inland. For the next 24 hours, there will be no sleep,” he said.

SAPS members were also urged to take their duties seriously with the world watching the event.

This is one of the biggest events of the AmaZulu nation. A certificate of recognition will be presented by State President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The City’s state of readiness was presented by Community and Emergency Services Committee chairperson, Councillor Zama Sokhabase, to the Executive Committee during a meeting held on October 18 at City Hall.
