Amashova’s race director Annie Batchelder says that cyclists will ride with full road closure, primarily on the famous Comrades Marathon route from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

“Because safety is of paramount importance to us, there will be significant presence by traffic authorities to ensure no cars enter the route while cyclists are riding from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. We have also partnered with Netstar to assist with tracking event vehicles,” said Batchelder.

Batchelder says that residents along the route of the race are urged to welcome and cheer on the riders of the various distances being raced, not forgetting to obey the safety procedures in place on race day.

“We are sharing the full road-closure details with residents in the areas of the route and to the general public who might be wanting to use the Amashova route for travel purposes on Sunday, October 23, so we can limit any inconvenience caused and help them to plan an alternative route,” she said.
