DURBAN musicians Naresh Veeran and Praline Ross invite audiences to join them as they cabaret their way through five decades of pop and jazz hits on Sunday, October 30. The event, titled Sunday Soiree in the Garden, takes place at 13:30.

The duo are performing together for the first time, with Ross performing classics like Unforgettable, Where the Boys Are and At Last.  On Veeran’s set list are Black Orpheus, Besame Mucho and In a Sentimental Mood on tenor saxophone.

Ross, a speech and drama associate of Trinity College (London), has performed for more than a decade in all of Durban’s iconic venues, including the ICC, the Catalina and the Rhumbelow Theatre. Between songs, Ross will share moments from her musical journey.

“Some hilarious, some painful but never boring,” promises Ross.

Veeran’s home can best be described as iconic of old-school Durban and features a park-like garden. To date, it has played host to sold-out sessions by Veeran, performing solo and with his friends, including British-born Raymond Perrier, Mexican artist and performer Ram Miranda, and South African jazz pianist Melvin Peters.

Attendees are invited to bring along a picnic basket and a blanket to enjoy the show. Entrance is R120, and booking is essential due to limited space. Call 082 376 0799 to secure a spot.
