Mensa offers free IQ testing in Berea

Only people who score at or above the 98th percentile on a standard IQ test are permitted to join Mensa.

DURBAN residents can take a free test with Mensa KwaZulu-Natal on October 15 at 09:30 in the Berea area. Mensa is an international organisation for people who score at or above the 98th percentile on a standard IQ test; that is, in the top 2% of the population.

“We are excited to grow our member base and welcome new members to the High IQ Society,” said Lucy Lalouette, Mensa KZN chairperson.

“We are a member-driven community organisation that brings together like-minded people to enjoy creative and intellectual pursuits in a relaxed, supportive environment. By taking the test, successful applicants are able to join our community,” added Lalouette.

Mensa offers a wide array of activities, including social, outdoor and creative activities.

“The word ‘Mensa’ is Latin for ‘table’, and signifies that we are a round-table organisation, where all members’ values are equal. There are branches in all four major centres in South Africa, and the local KZN branch is active with about one meeting per month,” said Lalouette.

Booking is essential to take the free IQ test. Book via email: kzn.testingofficer@mensa.org.za.
