Two shot dead in Durban Central

Reports from the scene indicate that shots were fired during a botched robbery.

TWO men were fatally shot and killed during a shooting incident on the corner of Mark Lane and Doctor Pixley Kaseme Street in central Durban today, September 8 at about 10:00.

Paramedics rushed to the scene to assist. According to Garrith Jamieson of Advanced Life Support Paramedics (ALS), both victims were declared dead on the scene.

“On arrival, ALS found SAPS already on the scene. Two men, believed to be in their 40s, had sustained gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do for them. They were declared deceased at the scene,” said Jamieson.

Reports from the scene indicate that shots were fired during a botched robbery.

“It is alleged that a person was being robbed and a security officer tried to assist him. Both sustained fatal gunshot wounds,” said Jamieson.

This follows another shooting incident yesterday, September 7 when three people were injured at Durban Magistrate’s Court.

Durban Central SAPS was not available for comment at the time this article was published.
