DURBAN Central Detectives are seeking assistance in solving cases of business robberies they are investigating.
The police have made two incidents public, and authorities are urging residents to be hypervigilant and cautious.
Incident 1:
According to Captain Muzi Maphumalo of the Durban Central South African Police Services (SAPS), it is alleged that on August 3 at 13:25, the complainant was at his workplace on Julius Nyerere when he noticed two males, one of which pulled out a firearm. “A third male was at the till instructing the cashier to open the drawer. The complainant then informed them that he is the store manager, and he will open the drawers. They took cash from eight tills and boxes of cigarettes. They fled the scene as the panic alarm went off,” said Maphumulo.
Incident 2 :
Maphumulo says that on July 16 at 14:05, a complainant was inside the jewellery store at The Workshop Mall when she noticed a customer at the till busy with the sales lady. Another male then entered the shop, and as he was asked to be assisted, he pulled out a firearm and instructed them to move to the back of the shop and to lie down.
“More males then entered the store and started loading the jewellery and cash into the bags,” he said.
Maphumulo says they then fled.
“We appeal to anyone who might have information regarding the males in the pictures we have distributed to contact the investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Singh on 031 325 4041 or 083 231 9034 or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” concluded Maphumulo.
