Durban police seek assistance in abandoned child case

Although she is healthy and kept at a place of safety, a five-week-old baby girl is still not reunited with her parents. Police are on the lookout for a woman who may be connected to the case of abandonment they are investigating.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives are seeking assistance to solve a case of child abandonment.

Sergeant Zanele Khomo said, “It is alleged that on September 2, at about 16:30, police attended to a complaint of an abandoned child at Addington Hospital. On arrival, police were shown a baby who was left on the 12th floor. The baby girl was five days old. The infant was then taken to a place of safety and was in good health.
