Friday, October 6

X’ed Out

The Outsiderz bring you their first music event, which is mostly hip-hop, on Friday, October 6, at The Warehouse, 82 Hunter Street, South Beach. The public is invited to join the team as they spread awareness of the underground music scene in Durban – with some fashion and vibes included. 

Saturday, October 7

 

Garden View/Tuinsig Centre for the Aged Mini Market

The Garden View/Tuinsig Centre for the Aged will be hosting a Mini Market on Saturday, October 7 from 09:00 to 12:00. The market will offer attendees pancakes, curry and rice, boerewors rolls, cake, tea, coffee and cooldrinks. There will also be a white elephant table, a crafts table and jewellery on sale, and there will be live music. The Garden View/Tuinsig Centre for the Aged is located at 12 Problem Mkhize Road in Berea. Pancakes will also be available on Friday, October 6, so place your pancake orders. Homeground Church Fun Day 

The Homeground Church will be holding a Community Fun Day at their Pinetown Campus on Saturday, October 7 from 09:00 to 13:00. Entrance is free, and there will be jumping castles and games for the children. There will also be craft market stalls and food stalls for the adults.

Methodist Church of Southern Africa – Eisteddfod

The Methodist Church of Southern Africa will be hosting a national choral music competition on Saturday, October 7 at the Durban Playhouse from 09:00. The competition will involve all their districts in the entire continent. They will also have different categories from soloists, duets, small ensembles and large choirs comprised of a maximum of 60 voices on stage. The public is invited to come watch the different choirs battle it out. 

Bok van Blerk Live in Ballito

Bok van Blerk and Band, one of SA’s top artists, is bringing you live outdoor music at the La Montagne Resort in Ballito on Saturday, October 7 from 17:00. Bok is known and loved by many South Africans, young and old, especially in Ballito, as this was once his home and is one of his favourite places in South Africa. Some of his familiar favourite hits include Sing Afrikaner Sing, Praat my Taal, Tyd om te Trek. The Durban Caledonian Society social lunch

The Durban Caledonian Society will hold a social lunch at the Berea Bowling Club located at the corner of Brand and Ferguson Roads, Umbilo, at 12:30 for 13:00 on Sunday, October 8. The cost is R60, and visitors are welcome. Apple crumble, ice cream and custard and tea and coffee will be provided, and the cash bar will be available. Mo Magic comes to town

ENTERTAINER extraordinaire Mo Magic invites you to his new live show titled Stage of Wonders at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping Pop-Up Theatre in uMhlanga from Friday, October 6 until Sunday, October 8.

The show is suitable for anyone eight years old or up and is about 70 minutes long.

With two decades of experience in the art of magic, the electronic-engineer-turned-entertainer is well-known for his previous theatre shows, his record-breaking 13-part prime-time magic TV series, his Showmax special and for astonishing audiences on stages internationally, including celebrities in Hollywood and royalty in the Middle East.

Snake Awareness Mini-Exhibition at Dangerous Creatures

From Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8, the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR) will be hosting a Snake Awareness mini-exhibition outside Dangerous Creatures in the uShaka Village Walk between 09:00 and 16:00. This mini-exhibition is free to the public.

The event will focus on indigenous snakes encountered throughout South Africa, highlighting the important role snakes play in our lives. If you have any questions about reptiles, this is your chance to chat with the experts, so don’t miss out!
