Friday, September 22

 

School to host blood drive

ATHOLL Heights Primary School will host another blood drive to collect their goal of 260 pints of blood. This follows a successful drive in June. The South African National Blood Services will be there from 07:00 until 16:00. There will be free wors rolls for the first 100 donors and a token of gratitude for every person that donates on the day.

Garden Fair

TO celebrate spring and honour natural heritage, a glorious Garden Fair at View Top Farm in Hillcrest (home to NU Driving Range) will be held over the Heritage long weekend, supported by 1000 Hills Tourism.

The event, The Garden Fair 2023: A Unique Experience of Horticulture and Heritage in the Valley of a 1000 Hills, is free to the public and opens from 08:30 until 16:00.

Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.

Movie night

INGWE Property Group in Pinetown and Nu Metro Pavilion will host a movie night on Saturday, September 23 to help shed light on human trafficking. They appeal to the public to support it by buying tickets.

The movie, Sound of Freedom, which is based on an incredible true story and which shines a light on even the darkest of places, will be shown at Nu Metro Pavilion at 17:00.

Get inspired

THE Get Inspired non-profit organisation invites the community to draw inspiration from them as they make an appearance at Pinetown Knowles SPAR on Saturday, September 23. The organisation travels throughout Durban, promoting the well-being of people with disabilities.

 

Ride a vintage steam train

HONOUR heritage and enjoy a ride on a fabulous vintage steam train through the rolling 1000 Hills – departing from and returning to Inchanga Station on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24.

The Inchanga Craft Market will be in full swing with dozens of stalls offering family-friendly locally sourced fare. There is also a food garden offering a range of light meals and snacks, a play area and a picnic site. The Inchanga Railway Museum will be open for tours, and the model railway, Thomas & Friends, will be operational in the Modeller’s hut.

All funds are going towards completing the refurbishment of the flood-damaged railway line.

Auditions for Christmas in Harmony

Maya Olsen invites people to audition for a musical, ‘Christmas in Harmony’.

WESTVILLE Theatre Club will be holding auditions at the Westville Theatre Club, adjacent to the Westville Swimming Pool on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 at 16:00 for a musical to be staged from November 30 to December 10.

The musical, ‘Christmas in Harmony’ is aimed at bringing you a wholesome family holiday. The majority of the songs will be sung using harmonies, signifying togetherness and unity.

ARE you ready to experience the melting pot of flavours, cultures, sounds and sights that make Durban the cosmopolitan smorgasbord it is today? Make sure you don’t miss the Durban Street Food Festival 2023 – Food and Music Experience at the Pavillion Shopping Centre on Saturday, September 23.

There will be musicians by day and DJs to heat things up when the sun goes down. The festival provides a feast town, feast bars, a music stage, a food truck arena, a dessert candyland, a family and kids’ zone and a craft and fashion arena.
