Entries for Dusi 2023 are open

Early bird entries for the 2023 edition close on Thursday, December 15.

ENTRIES for next year’s Dusi Canoe Marathon are open for paddlers looking to tackle the iconic multi-sport race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

Dubbed Africa’s Original Adventure Race, The Dusi returns to its roots as participants take on the gruelling route in canoes and on foot between Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg and Blue Lagoon in Durban from February 16 to 18.

Heading into its 72nd edition in 2023, The Dusi continues to attract interest both locally, nationally and globally, and with travel restrictions eased worldwide, there could be an interest from paddlers across the globe to enter.

The Dusi 2023 is being run in memory of Cameron Mackenzie, a man committed to growing paddling and The Dusi over many years.

Mackenzie was a crucial part of paddling and spent seventeen years at the helm of the Dusi. He didn’t just run the Dusi as an event for over 15 years, he completed the three-day race nine times as a paddler.

The ongoing battle that canoeing events around the country are faced with is that of water quality. For The Dusi, they will continue to highlight this struggle as they prepare for the 2023 race.

“Tackling issues of water quality is an ongoing challenge, one that we undertake each and every year,” said Ian McDonald, Dusi Organising Committee head. “But it is those athletes who will take on The Dusi Challenges, irrespective of these obstacles, whom we are organising this event for.”

Entries for the 2023 event are only available via the event website – www.dusi.co.za – with Early Bird entry fees valid until Thursday, December 15.
