View works of art at annual exhibition

GO along to 13 Rockhaven Road in Cowies Hill from Saturday, December 3 to Sunday, December 4 from 09:30 to 16:30 to view the latest works of local artists. The annual exhibition will be held at Lorraine Wilson’s house. Wilson is a well-renowned artist who has taught pottery to both adults and children for many years and exhibited her paintings and ceramics throughout South Africa. She will be joined by Corri Hook, Lindsay Scott, Noreen Hepker, Jo-Anne Kuter, Brenda Kuhn and Olivia Bambus. There is no entrance fee to the exhibition, and tea, coffee and cake will be served. SPCA hosts Christmas market

THE Durban & Coast SPCA will host its Christmas Market at its Springfield Park premises (2 Willowfield Crescent) on Saturday, December 3. The market runs from 08:00 to noon. “There are no hot-food stalls, but everything and everybody else is welcome,” explained marketing manager of the SPCA, Tanya Fleischer. Antique and collectable fair

THE La Lucia Antique Fair and Collectable Fair takes place on Sunday, December 4 at La Lucia Mall (Lower Ground Floor) from 09:00 to 14:00. There will be a vast collection of beautiful and unusual items from a past era as well as porcelain, crystal, silver and even vintage woodworking hand tools. The heirlooms of yesterday are perfect Christmas gifts.

Funny family panto returns

FUN returns to the Highway area this holiday season with the Westville Theatre Club’s fabulously funny family panto, Puss in Boots. Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust to hold candle-lighting ceremony

THE annual Candle Lighting and Remembrance ceremony at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) will be held on December 1, to commemorate World Aids Day. Hillcrest NPO hosts Christmas party

THE Valley Trust (TVT) is due to host its annual Christmas party for 100 children on Friday, December 9. The NPO welcomes assistance with party items to make the day memorable for their small attendees. The Christmas party will be held on the Valley Trust property in conjunction with the Halley Stott Clinic. The party is for children that benefit from the services of the clinic and the Trust’s Khula Kahle Mntwana Programme (Grow Well Child), and also for the benefit of other vulnerable children in the area. KZN Philharmonic Orchestra comes to Kloof

THE KZN Philharmonic Orchestra concert will take place at St Agnes Church, Abelia Road, Kloof on Sunday, December 4 at 15:00. The programme will be comprised of beautiful Christmas music as well as a variety of other light classics.
Items include Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, excerpts from The Nutcracker SuiteGabriel’s Oboe from The Mission, and many other beautiful pieces of music.
The event will be in aid of Youth Education and Support Trust, a non-profit organisation that supports promising and underprivileged tertiary-level students in need.
Light refreshments will be served at interval, and there will be great prizes to be won. Tickets cost R200 and are available online from www.webtickets.co.za or at Pick ’n Pay.
