Mommy moments: Who will you be?

In other news, my colleagues held a surprise baby shower for me at work last week. Low-key, no faffing and just the way I like it.

A FEW weeks ago, I was asked if I was comfortable with doing a baby reveal because in some cultures, couples choose not to share pics of their baby instantly.

My husband and I personally have no issue with sending pics of munchkin to family and friends after she’s born, but I doubt we’d be the ‘serial-poster parents’ – the ones who post pictures and videos of their children on social media all day, every day. I think the question came from knowing that there are certain cultures and faiths which believe that the evil eye can be harmful.

In the Indian community, for one, I personally know of people who hold off on circulating pictures of their newborns on social media because culture dictates that the evil eye will somehow ruin your happiness if you share too much.

Baby-girl also has hiccups every day, which is a good indication that her diaphragm and neurological system are working fine.

We watch in awe as my belly moves to a steady rhythm. We also try to guess what body parts are where, but most of all, we wonder who she will look like and whose personality she will inherit.

I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks!
