VIDEO: Freddy Mercury impersonator will ‘rock you’ at tribute show

You won’t believe your ears!

IF you love Queen and have not gone to watch the Thank You for the Music tribute show at Suncoast Casino’s The Barnyard Theatre, then best you get your rear into gear, my friend!

Now, trust me, I am not usually one for tribute shows.

However, the show knocked my socks off. Especially the performance of Richard Kaldenberg – the show’s Freddy Mercury impersonator.

Not only were the costumes on point, but at first, I thought Kaldenberg was lip-syncing!

It was mind-blowing how much he sounds like the flamboyant, charismatic and legendary performer.

There’s definitely ‘A Kind of Magic’ to his performance.

If you don’t believe me, check out this teaser clip below:

The production also features songs from two other legendary bands of the 70s and 80s – ABBA and The Bee Gees.

And while there is no doubt that Kaylee MacIlroy and Savanah De Beer (for ABBA) as well as Jerryn Fosteras, Josh Philander and Kyle Matthews (for The Bee Gees) served some beautiful vocals, Kaldenberg’s unbelievable impersonation stole the show – in my humble opinion.

Other stand-out performances included: Jason Kylen who licked out an insane guitar solo and Bongani Sokela (the base guitarist) whom you could clearly see enjoyed and jammed to every song as if he had just heard it for the first time. It was a pleasure to watch him enjoy the show as much as we did.

If you love any of these three bands, you have until the end of September to catch the show.

The show features some of the bands’ most memorable hits, and it was easy enough to work out which one would be the showstopper.
