Ramaphosa finally addresses KZN ANC conference

Earlier, KwaZulu-Natal ANC leadership said Ramaphosa had other commitments and would no longer close the conference.

AFTER conflicting messages about whether president Cyril Ramaphosa would come and deliver the closing address at the KwaZulu-Natal ANC conference, he finally arrived on Sunday evening.

The new provincial leadership and ANC’s Acting Secretary General, Paul Mashatile, had announced on Friday that the president would close the conference, but on Saturday, the provincial leadership told the media he was no longer coming. Then later, the president came to Durban.

Despite fears that he would be hackled, the president delivered his speech without being interrupted.

In his message, he called for unity and urged the delegates to use the conference to unite the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
