Man shot on Florida Road

A knife-wielding suspect was shot when his victim fought back.

A SUSPECT was shot on Florida Road on Tuesday, June 28 during a botched robbery.

It is alleged that the suspect attempted to rob a man at knifepoint when the man fired a shot.

Spokesperson for Emer-G-Med Paramedics, Kyle Van Reenen, said the paramedics arrived on the scene just after 20:00.

“It is believed that the man attempted to rob a member of the public of his cellphone, at knifepoint, leading to the shooting. However, the South African Police Services were in attendance and will do the necessary investigation accordingly,” said Van Reenen.

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was reportedly shot in his arm and stabilised on scene, before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
