Train with expert advice for 10km road running series

There are three races in the series, with a whopping combined prize purse of R870 000.

THE Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) has been named the official health and fitness content sponsor for the upcoming Absa RUN YOUR CITY (RYC) Series.

With a whopping combined prize purse of R870 000, the 10km road running series kicks off with the Cape Town leg on Sunday, May 15, followed by the Durban race on July 10 and the Joburg one on September 24.

Michael Meyer, MD of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Absa RYC Series said the SSISA’s wealth of knowledge is guaranteed to benefit elite runners and newcomers to the sport.

“From training programmes to nutritional advice and access to experts, with SSISA’s guidance runners in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg are guaranteed to be ready both physically and mentally come race day,” said Meyer.

SSISA has been a game changer in sports performance, working in collaboration with UCT’s Health through Physical Activity and Lifestyle research centre since 1994. Dr Mandla Moyo, SSISA CEO, said the institution aims to make its services, interventions and expertise accessible to all South Africans.
“We strive to educate and guide South Africans to safe and scientifically based exercise principles. Our vision is that our reach will have no boundaries and our impact will be globally meaningful,” said Moyo.
