THE Glenwood Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) is urging residents to stay on the lookout for burglars due to a robbery spike in the area.
Vernon Stokes, the Glenwood UIP director said they responded to two separate burglary incidents this week.
“Our tactical response vehicle responded recently to a call from one of our ambassadors in Brand Road, reporting that he had observed suspicious activity at a home in Cohen Road. Our tactical response officer proceeded to the scene and apprehended the burglar inside the house. SAPS were summoned to take over the scene,” said Stokes.

According to Stokes, the second incident took place at a local business, “In another, unrelated incident our tactical response vehicle arrested another suspect this week in Bulwer Park, after having received a report that he was in possession of aluminum windows that he had stolen from a business in the precinct,” he said.
Stokes and the Glenwood UIP want residents to note that there have been a number of ‘smash n grab’ cases around the business hubs in the precinct.

“In the two latest incidents, shoppers left their vehicle to shop leaving a laptop and an iPhone on the front seat respectively. Both vehicle’s passenger windows were smashed and items were stolen. We have CCTV footage here and are liaising with the authorities,” he said.
