Five injured in Umbilo crash

Paramedics stabilised the patients on the scene before rushing them to hospital.

FIVE people were left injured after a serious collision on the corner of ZK Matthews Road (Nicholson) and Deodar Avenue in Umbilo today, Friday, April 22.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics rushed to the scene to assist.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the two badly damaged vehicles had collided in the roadway before one of the driver’s vehicles left the roadway and crashed into a boundary wall,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.

Patients were taken to nearby hospitals.

“A total of five patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. They were stabilised on the scene,” said Jamieson.

While the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, SAPS were on the scene investigating.
