Grab a ‘breakie’ and browse the R50 market in Glenwood

Enjoy a bacon and egg roll, connect over coffee and browse stalls bursting with artisan wares, plants, preloved books and more.

FOLLOWING  the success of their December market, the Port Natal Citadel is hosting another R50 market on Saturday, March 5 where all items on sale will be priced under R50.

The market also aims to raise funds for charity. There is a R5 entry fee per person and all proceeds support local NGO,  iThemba Lethu, which runs a breastmilk bank for orphaned and vulnerable babies.

Through the December market,  R955 was raised for iThemba Lethu. Not only does the market offer the community a family friendly space to shop and connect over coffee, it’s also a platform for informal traders and small businesses to grow.

Citadel Market coordinator Karen Brokensha said traders include a variety of artisans who will sell homemade gifts and packaging, dinky Barbie clothes, cupcakes and hair scrunchies, to jewelry, decals and posters, plants, preloved books, CD’s and trinkets.

“People simply don’t have the finances they used to have, so let’s be wise and generous stewards, to support those who are using their skills and creativity to generate an income, and in doing so we will all contribute towards the heart-made community economy over commercialism,” she said.
