Ward 33 committee elections on the horizon
Any resident who lives in Ward 33 can contest to run for a seat in the Ward Committee.
RESIDENTS of Ward 33 will soon cast their votes to elect a new Ward Committee.
According to ward councillor, Sakhile Mngadi, the scheduled dates for the elections are March, 5 and 6, at the Stella Sports Club in Berea.
“The purpose of Ward Committees is to ensure that every community member is represented and accountable. The Ward Councillor becomes the chairperson of the Ward Committee, which will be made up of 10 Wards and 33 residents,” he said.
Mngadi wants residents to know his intentions, “It is a known fact that in previous years this structure has been used by some political organizations as a training ground for their activists. In my tenure, this will be a political structure that will work!”

Any resident who lives in Ward 33 can contest to run for a seat in the Ward Committee, and additionally, committee members will receive a monthly stipend.
This position however does not come without its responsibilities and duties.
“I will ensure that a report is sent and if a member misses a meeting I will have you removed. In other words, this is not a job opportunity but rather an opportunity to be of service to the residents of Ward 33,” he said in a statement.
The Ward Councillor will announce more details in the upcoming weeks leading to the election.
