Woman dies in Umgeni Road collision

Three people were injured and one person died in the collison.

A WOMAN was killed in a serious accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of Umgeni Road and Alpine Road just before 15:00 on Friday, January 28.

Three more people were seriously injured in the accident.

Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for Advanced Life Support Paramedics, said they arrived on the scene to find three vehicles had collided.

“One person, a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was in a critical condition. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise her on scene, however, despite their attempts, her injuries were too severe and she went into cardiac arrest and was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.

He said three other people sustained injuries that ranged from minor to moderate. They were all stabilised on scene before they were transported to a nearby Durban hospital.

SAPS were on scene and will be investigating.
